An established, mission-driven nonprofit is seeking a Senior Accountant (Grants) to join its Finance team in a newly created role. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who wants true ownership and autonomy , with responsibility for managing a diverse portfolio of government, foundation, and privately funded grants from award through closeout.

What You’ll Do

• Own a portfolio of grants from initial setup through reconciliation, reporting, reimbursement, and closeout.
• Manage monthly accounting, budget-to-actuals, forecasting, and grant-related journal entries .
• Monitor spending and proactively identify variances, funding risks, and compliance issues .
• Ensure grant expenses are accurately recorded, properly supported, and compliant with funding requirements.
• Partner with Finance and Program Leadership to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
• Support grant budgets, audits, reporting, and year-end close , while helping improve processes and controls.

• You bring nonprofit accounting exposure , whether as a Grant Accountant, an accountant within a nonprofit, or through public accounting with nonprofit clients .
• Grant experience is highly valued, but strong nonprofit accountants without direct grant experience are welcome .
• You’re a self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and takes ownership of your responsibilities.
• You’re a collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with others in a smaller, hands-on finance team.
• You’re organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience with federal grants is a major plus
